FORGETFULNESS

Posted on: February 5th, 2012

Forgetting the past is not always bad, like when we are trying to forgive someone or moving forward after a painful experience, but there are some things we should never stop thinking about. For example, remembering what it was like without Christ helps us to grow and press on spiritually. (2 Peter 1:5-10) Likewise, we should not forget God’s instruction by disobedience or apathy. (James 1:22-25)

We are also told to “pray without ceasing”, a clear reference to remembering. (1 Thess. 5:17) Christians must read, meditate, and dedicate themselves to understanding God’s Word. (1 Tim. 4:13-16) We should “not forget to do good and to share” our blessings with others, both spiritually and materially. (Heb. 13:16) Recalling God’s judgment against those who rejected Him will help us to remain faithful. (1 Cor. 10:1- 12) By thinking about God’s love and sacrifice for us we can find the strength to be faithful. (2 Tim. 2:8-12) I want to encourage you to never forget these things. Terry Starling
